Ice Lantern Festival

The 8th annual Mineral Point Ice Lantern Festival, presented by Arts Mineral Point, is Saturday, February 8, 2025, throughout the downtown historic district!

Visit Mineral Point’s galleries, studios and shops throughout the day and into the evening.See ice lanterns created by artists, businesses, MP High School Art students and fun loving townspeople. Lanterns are made of ice by mother nature and are powered by a single candle. Lanterns will be judged and prizes will be awarded.

Festival Events

    AMP Member Art Show

    11am to 7pm - Masonic Lodge

    Kids' Costume Contest

    3:30 - Winning costume gets a $50 prize! $5 entry fee.

    Four Cake Walks

    3:45, 4:15, 4:45, 5:00 - Take a turn strolling around a ring of numbers to music. Whoever is standing on the number called, wins the cake! $1 entry fee per turn.

    Adults' Costume Contest

    4:00 - Winning Costume receives a $50 prize. $5 entry fee.

    Lantern Toss

    5:30 - 310 High Street. Take a turn at hurling an over-baked Ice Lantern! (Contestants must be able to lift 20 pounds). Winning toss will be the farthest within the closed-course. Winner receives a $50 prize! $5 entry fee per toss.

    Winning Lanterns Announced

    6:30 - Winners of the individual lantern contest will be announced by our esteemed judge. $100 first prize. $20 sponsorship entry fee.

 

PLAN A TRIP TO MINERAL POINT

Looking for a fun family escape from the winter doldrums? Visit the Mineral Point Ice Lantern Festival! Enjoy family-friendly activities in the downtown historic district from 1 - 7pm. Grab a hot chocolate, warm-up at a fire pit and listen to tunes in the library park. Ice Lanterns are lit at 5pm. Visit participating retail locations with extended hours till 7:00pm. Enjoy bars and restaurants into the evening with festival specials.
