Ubuntu. I am, because you are.”
- Archbishop Desmond Tutu

”Motivated by disruption, the aesthetics of change and shifts in perception, boyoyoboy! gallery presents art which confront dynamic tension and challenges identities, within a place. We represent Southern African artists, whom we believe to be significant change agents, producing works of exceptional quality & cultural significance. boyoyoboy! artists and their work stand outside the circle of conformity and the expected.

We appreciate any opportunity to introduce our artists and share more on their lives, backgrounds, personalities and professional output. boyoyoboy! is available to meet for private consultations in Chicago. We also encourage anyone to visit our physical gallery space, as well as a host of other galleries and artists in beautiful Mineral Point.

boyoyoboy! is committed to three curatorial initiatives. Exhibition + representation, focused on engendering social transformation in the spirit of ubuntu, however embryonic that process might be. We cooperate in presenting progressive projects, including exhibitions, installations & performances in various locations. We provide an opportunity for artists, based within and outside Africa, to explore challenging territory such as unequal power structures and socio political constructs, while engaging in direct dialogue within the African, European or American context, depending on their origin.

9. Wantoot

Modern. American. Handmade.
Powerful words alone, together they define us.
WANTOOT: A synergy of artistic viewpoint, location and method.

We’re passionate about helping artist-makers succeed and thrive in an ever increasing fast-paced, disposable-minded world. We support local arts initiatives that foster opportunities for artists and art tourism. We’re historic preservationists, who make our home in Mineral Point, Wisconsin—a living museum. We’re environmentalists: the greenest building is one that’s already been built, (our gallery was built in 1891). We support and encourage our artists to use reclaimed and recycled materials, many do.
We love our country, support cancer research, revel in the tranquil beauty of the driftless area, and have a particular fondness for goats.
